Easy PlayStation Games That Have Absurdly Difficult Platinum Trophies

PlayStation may be the console for players who want to enjoy the highest-quality games in the market without worrying about everything else. Apart from exclusives, Sony’s gaming platform also offers hundreds of great and accessible third-party games from some of the best developers across the globe.

Sadly, not all the best and most fun PlayStation games are easy, especially when it comes to achieving the Platinum trophy. Let’s take some of the simplest games on Sony’s console that truly asks players to pour in hours to acquire the sparkling achievement.

MLB: The Show 19

MLB: The Show 19 is a baseball game that came out in 2019 exclusively on Sony PlayStation 4. It offered players dozens of modes and expanded on old titles in the series. The game also got highly positive reviews from multiple publications, which is a rarity in sports titles.

MLB: The Show 19 is an easy game, as Sony has marketed it toward casual baseball fans of different ages. However, it packs in-depth gameplay to master and some of the hardest trophies. One such award is the “Welcome to the Chip” trophy which requires players to get an 800 rank in Ranked Seasons mode.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is the remake of the classic Tony Hawk games and is truly one of the best ones. The title came out in 2020 on last-generation consoles and a year later on current-gen systems like PlayStation 5.

While Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a fairly simple skateboarding game with arcade-style controls, it can take some time to master. More importantly, it is even harder to platinum on Sony’s console as its “Got There” trophy requires players to finish 19 extremely difficult challenges.

Dragon Ball Fighter Z

Dragon Ball Fighter Z is one of the best Dragon Ball games and one of the greatest fighting games in recent times. It’s an Unreal Engine 4 game that allows players to play as 21 iconic characters, such as Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Broly, Krillin, Frieza, Cell, and more.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is a fairly easy-to-play game, like most other fighting games, as it allows players to mash buttons and hit cool moves. However, Platinum-ing the game is a chore as the trophies “My Power Level is 530,000” and “Set for Life” require players to earn an ungodly amount of in-game currencies.

Back 4 Blood

Back 4 Blood is the spiritual successor to legendary co-op zombie shooter, Left 4 Dead. The game came out in 2021 on all major platforms and had a rough launch due to a multitude of issues. However, the Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment title has since got back in shape and slowly gaining players back.

Back 4 Blood, like the Left 4 Dead, has many achievements for players to unlock. Moreover, it’s a fairly straightforward shooter, making many of those easy to earn. However, getting the Platinum on Sony’s console could be a task as an in-game trophy, “Good Riddance!,” requires players to kill over 50k Ridden.

Wipeout Omega Collection

Wipeout Omega Collection is a compilation video game with legendary racing titles such as Wipeout HD, Wipeout HD Fury expansion, and Wipeout 2048. The game came out in 2017 and is a Sony PlayStation 4 exclusive with reinvented multiplayer modes and more features.

Wipeout games have always been simple to control and challenging to master. However, not many players know that they’re downright impossible to platinum. The classic racing games require players to earn the “Beat Zico:HD” trophy to get the platinum, which means finishing a difficult track in under 30 seconds.

Injustice: Gods Among Us

Injustice: Gods Among Us is a superhero fighting game from 2013 which is widely available on various platforms such as PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360, Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, iOS, Android, and more. It’s a game that features dozens of popular superheroes and is fairly easy to play.

Finishing Injustice: Gods Among Us is incredibly easy, as it’s a simple game with uncomplicated controls. However, Platinum-ing the game is a challenge for most players as it requires them to earn the “World’s Finest” trophy, which is all about getting perfecting 300 S.T.A.R Lab challenges.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is an action platformer that came out in 2020 on multiple platforms. The game is the eighth main title in the legendary Crash Bandicoot series and expands on the universe by continuing the story of Crash and his friends against Doctor Nefarious.

Like other Crash games, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is a basic 3D platforming game with simple controls. Yet, most players will probably never platinum it as it requires them to earn everything, including Platinum trophies for every Time Trial challenge.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a simple-looking 2D game and one of the most addictive roguelikes of all time. The title features the story of a little boy named Isaac who’s fallen into the basement and has to explore the depths to escape the scary monsters.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth has a lot of replay value as it slowly lets players discover new things. However, the same replay value makes its Platinum trophy hard to earn. The game requires players to spend hundreds of hours and finish the game with 34 playable characters.

Tetris Effect

Tetris Effect is one of the latest Tetris games, as it came out in 2018 on last-gen and current-gen consoles. The puzzle game features the classic gameplay mechanics players have adored for years and expands each area by utilizing Unreal Engine 4’s features.

Like other Tetris games, Tetris Effect is fairly easy to play and offers a variety of modes, including multiplayer. However, one of its trophies, “Seriously? Seriously,” is fairly difficult to achieve, as it requires players to get 100 percent completion by getting SS rank everywhere.

Grand Theft Auto V

There’s no game as straightforward as Grand Theft Auto 5. The Rockstar Games’ masterpiece has been popular for the past ten years and still has a community full of players, speed runners, streamers, and more. That said, just because GTA 5 is easy doesn’t mean Platinum-ing the game is effortless too.

Grand Theft Auto 5 requires players to grind the online section of the game massively. What makes it worse is that the title is full of cheaters and online hackers who will make it nearly impossible for players to do that.
