Elder Scrolls Online Teases Next Chapter With A Hidden Hermaeus Mora Symbol

Elder Scrolls fans, brace yourselves! The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) has sent out letters teasing the upcoming chapter for 2023, with the statement "the future of at least two worlds hangs in the balance," and players being the "thread that keeps reality itself from unravelling." This has sparked speculation and theories among the ESO community about the direction and location of the expansion.

But that's not all, sleuths among the community have used blacklight on the letter, revealing Hermaeus Mora's symbol. This has led to the theory that the expansion will take us back to Apocrypha, the grungy green swamp-like library of knowledge that we saw in Skyrim. It's worth mentioning that we've had Daedric DLC before, with the Deadlands and Fargrave, so this wouldn't be unprecedented.

However, another theory focuses on something more meta, the actual term 'blacklight' which is required to see Hermaeous Mora's symbol. We've explored Morrowind in the base game and Vvardenfell in its own expansion, but one location still left unexplored in the province is the Redoran capital city Blacklight. It's possible that this location will finally be filled out, perhaps even paired with Apocrypha.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Blacklight, it's an important city located in the northwest, just by the Velothi mountains. It served as the capital following Mournhold's sacking in the fourth era. Although it wouldn't be the capital during ESO's time, it's worth noting that it's an important city that has only ever appeared in Arena, the very first Elder Scrolls game. This would be an exciting opportunity for fans of the series to explore a new location that has been long overdue.

We might not have to wait long to find out what the letter means, as Xbox and Bethesda are holding a showcase on January 25th, with ESO set to make an appearance. Perhaps we'll be revisiting Morrowind, or maybe we'll get lost in the eternal library of unending knowledge, fighting back seekers, lurkers, and even dragons again. Let's just hope we don't bump into Miraak.

In conclusion, the ESO community is on the edge of their seats with excitement and anticipation for the upcoming chapter. The theories about the expansion's location and direction are intriguing, and we can't wait to see what the developers have in store for us. The Xbox and Bethesda showcase on January 25th will be a momentous occasion for the ESO community, and we can't wait to see what's in store for us. Stay tuned, and we'll update you as soon as we know more!
