Obsidian Would Really Like To Make Another Fallout Game

Fallout: New Vegas, developed by Obsidian, is widely considered as one of the best entries in the series. With Obsidian's development team comprising of developers from the first two Fallout games, it made perfect sense for them to be brought back for another outing after the success of Fallout 3. However, the game was so well received by fans and critics alike that many are now clamoring for a sequel.

In a recent interview, Obsidian's head, Feargus Urquhart, confirmed that the studio is not currently working on another Fallout game. This is mainly due to the fact that Obsidian already has a bunch of other projects in development, including Avowed, Grounded, and Outer Worlds 2. However, Urquhart also made it clear that he would "love" to develop another game in the series before he retires, indicating that the company would make another Fallout game if given the opportunity.

When asked about the chances of an Obsidian-developed Fallout game during an interview with Game Pressure, Urquhart stated, "We’re not working on it right now, our plate is pretty full with Avowed, Grounded and Outer Worlds 2. We just have to see what’s going on. That’s the best way to say it."

Even though there is no confirmation that a new Fallout game from Obsidian is in development at the moment, this is still the most optimistic news we've heard in a while regarding such a project. It is clear that the passion for developing another game in the series is still present on Urquhart's side, and it is likely that the studio has ideas for a New Vegas follow-up.

What's more, Obsidian and Bethesda, the publisher of Fallout, are now both part of the Microsoft umbrella, increasing the chances of cooperation between the two companies. In fact, both companies partnered up to celebrate Fallout's 25th anniversary last year, reflecting on New Vegas' development.

While many fans are requesting for a "New Vegas 2," it is unlikely that we will see something similar. Each Fallout game developed by the original team has been unique, focusing on new settings and themes. For example, the world of Fallout in the first game was largely isolated and underdeveloped, while in Fallout 2, we saw grand civilizations rebuild and try to connect the Wasteland under a single banner. In New Vegas, we got a tale of ordinary people in the Nevada desert caught between warring factions, all clinging to a past that doesn't exist. So, it's anyone's guess what another Obsidian Fallout would look like.

In conclusion, while it is clear that Obsidian would love to develop another Fallout game, it is unlikely that we will see an announcement anytime soon. The studio already has a bunch of big games in the works, and we will likely have to wait for Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 to wrap up development at the very least. However, with Obsidian and Bethesda now under the same umbrella, the possibilities for future collaboration are exciting. Let's hope that we will see another Obsidian-developed Fallout game in the future.
